Frequently Asked Questions.
Does my insurance cover services at the Stretch Studio?
Unfortunately, no. Services provided by The Stretch Studio are out of pocket expenses, like a yoga studio.
What is the difference between the Stretch Studio and a yoga studio?
The Stretch Studio services work on both tissue and joint mobility. We work on improving the available motion in your joints while lengthening your muscles (increasing flexibility). We also alter your sessions based on your individual needs.
Can you customize the area of focus?
Yes, we will absolutely do this for each of our clients. Some people may want to have less focused stretching sessions and some may want to focus on one area and both are okay!
I have had previous injuries, is it safe for me to use services at the Stretch Studio?
Yes! Our mobility specialists are highly trained and will ensure that you are safe during your sessions. The mobility specialists work closely with doctors of Physical Therapy, so if they ever have a question regarding an injury, they communicate with the doctors to ensure safety. In addition, it is always recommended to get clearance from your doctor before beginning any exercise program.
Will it be painful?
Stretching can be uncomfortable, but it shouldn't be painful. You are "the boss" of your session when it comes to intensity. If our mobility specialist is pushing you a bit too hard, just let us know and we can decrease the intensity.
When is the best time to stretch?
Whenever you'll do it! Maintaining mobility as we age is important in maintaining our independence, functional ability, athletic ability and it decreases our risk of injury. It is advisable to stretch daily.
How often should I come in?
We recommend starting with 2 days per week. As with any form of exercise if you wait too long between sessions you can lose what you have gained in previous sessions.
How old do you have to be?
Any age! There is extensive research showing that stretching between the ages of 11 and 18 can have lifelong positive effects on flexibility and mobility. Additionally, if your child is experiencing growing pains, a stretching program is a great way to mitigate those symptoms.
Do I need to bring anything to my stretch session?
If you are a new patient, please fill out the new patient waiver online "here" before your session. It is recommended to wear flexible or loose fitting clothing in order for us to be able to achieve the best results.
What is the educational background of your mobility specialists?
Our mobility specialists have a background in Kinesiology and have been trained extensively on mobility through world renowned mobility courses.
What sets the Stretch Studio apart from other stretching places?
The Stretch Studio was founded by two doctors of Physical Therapy with a combined 30 years of experience working with orthopedic and neurologic diagnosis. They have developed a program rooted in physical therapy and anatomical and physiological expertise to give a greater outcome compared to stretching alone. We are using research based techniques so we know that what we do works!
